Benign breast disease refers to non-cancerous changes or conditions affecting the breast, which can include lumps, cysts, pain, or abnormal tissue growth. This course is designed to help healthcare professionals develop the skills necessary to deliver bad news in the field of gynaecology and obstetrics with clarity and compassion. It focuses on communication frameworks, such as the SPIKES protocol (Setting, Perception, Invitation, Knowledge, Empathy, Strategy), to manage emotional reactions and guide conversations surrounding sensitive topics such as pregnancy loss, foetal abnormalities, complications during pregnancy, infertility, abnormal test results, gynaecological cancers. The course emphasizes the importance of empathy, active listening, and cultural sensitivity when discussing sensitive issues.
